Using Digital Storytelling to Reinforce Reading

Andrea Jamison is an academic librarian, lecturer, and writer.  She is known in the library world as a staunch advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion.  She is passionate about fostering inclusive learning environments for youth and creating avenues of access (in publishing, libraries, and schools) for groups that have been historically marginalized.

As an avid reader, Andrea loves stories that invoke mystery, passion, and suspense. As a writer, her goal is to create stories that depict African Americans in ways that defy stereotypical roles. Although her passion is children’s literature, she loves writing period pieces and stories that speak to the social climate of marginalized groups. She has authored two books and several screenplays.  Andrea supports the work of independent authors and encourages libraries to do the same.
